The D.C. Department of Buildings (DOB) is a government agency that conducts inspections for compliance with the housing code, upon request and at no charge to the tenant making the request.

Legal Aid D.C. is a nonprofit that provides legal services to clients in the areas of domestic violence/family, housing, public benefits, and consumer law. Legal Aid D.C. also helps clients avoid unnecessary legal entanglements through outreach and education, and helps them resolve their own disputes with advice and other brief assistance.
