CONSUMERS FIRST, ALWAYS.
Hello,
My name is E. Vanessa Assae-Bille and I have spent my entire career in public service.
I started my career at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where I investigated false claims made by financial institutions that received HUD program funds. I then joined the Office of the Special Inspector General that was tasked with identifying fraud, waste, and abuse in the use of funds that Congress disbursed to stabilize the markets in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. Lastly, I practiced as a senior litigation counsel at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, where I led complex investigations into companies that provide financial services or products. And, when necessary, I sued them in federal courts across the country.
While in law school, I interned for the Washoe County Public Defender’s Office, the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority, and the World Bank’s Office of Ethics and Business Conduct. I also participated in Harvard Law’s Tenant Advocacy Project and various direct-services clinics.
I founded BILLE PLLC in 2025.
TRUST ME, I GET IT.
You will never have to convince me that your problem matters.
I am in this business because I understand that inconveniences of all sizes can make life harder, and sympathize with the frustration of being treated poorly by corporations that should know better.
And, like you, I am a consumer.
I was raised in a blue-collar household, by hardworking parents without college degrees. Growing up, I lived in rent-controlled housing, benefited from welfare programs, and at times, experienced economic insecurity. These experiences made me keenly aware, long before I became a lawyer, of how stressful it can be to deal with irresponsive landlords and massive financial institutions that see clients as just another number.
I believe the law can help restore balance in power between we, the consumers, and multimillion-dollar corporations — one case at a time.
Let’s fight back.
